Hungrian Royal Chamber Palace, Old City, Bratislava
Architect G. B. Martinelli designed the palace, built in 1753–1756 in a classical Baroque style for the Hungarian Royal Chamber, the kingdom's highest financial institution, based in Bratislava from 1531 to 1782. The Hungarian Diet met here in 1802–1848. Since 1953 it has housed the University Library. On 15 March 1848, the Diet adopted constitutional laws here that abolished serfdom and marked the start of the revolution in Hungary.
