Main Square, Old City, Bratislava
The site of the Main Square was once a marketplace. Its most important building is the historic Old Town Hall, but the square also contains the Hungarian Discount and Exchange Bank Palace, Paluďai Palace, Aponi Palace, the Governor's Palace and Kutscherfeld Palace. New Year's Eve celebrations and Christmas and Easter markets have been held here annually since the late 20th century. During the socialist period, the square was called 4 April Square.
