A. Hlinka Square, Historic Centre, Žilina

Below the parish church lies Andrej Hlinka Square, named after the prominent Slovak public figure and Catholic priest Andrej Hlinka (1864–1938). A bronze statue of him by Ladislav Berák was unveiled in 1994. The square also has the Singing Fountain, designed by Jozef Haščík. Cultural and other events are often held here, including the Old Town Festivities in June, the city's largest regular street event.
