From Southwest, Manor House Strážky, Spišská Belá

The manor house, Church of St. Anne and bell tower formed the core of historic Strážky. Together they are now a national cultural monument and among Spiš's architectural treasures. The restored manor house stands in a 19th-century English park and shows its development from a Late Gothic form in the 15th century, through Renaissance rebuilding, to Baroque and Neoclassical alterations in the late 18th century. From the 16th to 18th centuries it belonged to the Horváth-Stansith family, who founded a Latin humanist school for the children of Spiš nobles (1584–1711) and a library then among the richest in Hungary. In the 19th century the Medňanský and Czóbel families became owners. After the death of its last owner and resident, Baroness M. Czóbel, in 1972, the Slovak National Gallery took charge. The gallery offers public cultural programs in the region and holds Manor House Games in early summer. Visitors can relax in the extensive grounds and adjoining English park, which reaches the Poprad River, and eat at the courtyard restaurant, open from 15 June to 15 September.
