Franciscan Church of St. John the Baptist, Historic Centre, Bardejov

The Augustinians built the church around 1380, and it belonged to the Order of St. Augustine until they were expelled from the town in 1528. After a fire in 1534, the church stood abandoned until the mid-17th century, while the monastery served as a town granary. Protestants used the church until 1686, when the Franciscans took over both buildings during the Counter-Reformation. They enlarged and extended the church and rebuilt its vaults. It acquired its present appearance in 1878.
