Corgoň, Upper City, Nitra
According to legend, Corgoň, the Atlas of Nitra, was a powerful blacksmith who protected Nitra's Upper Town during a Turkish siege by hurling huge boulders at the attackers. The statue, by sculptor Vavrinec Dunajský, dates from 1820 and is built into the corner of the Canonry building.
Horné mesto je najstaršou časťou Nitry. Okrem Nitrianskeho hradu sa tu nachádzajú meštianske domy, kostol a kláštor františkánov, morový stĺp, súsošie Solúnski bratia, Veľkoprepoštský palác, Malý a Veľký seminár, socha Corgoňa a ďalšie zaujímavosti.
