Red Bastion, Historic Centre, Bardejov

The Red Bastion, also called the Royal Bastion, is a three-story bastion with a semicircular plan. Its name comes from the characteristic red ashlar pattern decorating it. It strengthened the defense of the Lower Gate. Remains of the town's and Hungary's coats of arms survive on its outer wall beneath the upper cornice; mayor Leonard Glatz had them painted in 1597.
